WHY GYMNASTICS
🌟 Our Focus
Recreational gymnastics is designed to build strong foundations in a fun, safe, and structured environment. We focus on developing:
-
Core strength and flexibility
-
Coordination and balance
-
Confidence and resilience
-
Listening skills and independence
-
Safe and correct technique
Progression is always based on ability, not age alone.
Beyond physical fitness, our classes also promote:
-
Confidence and self-esteem
-
Listening and focus
-
Cognitive development
-
Social skills and teamwork
-
Discipline and goal-setting
🏅 Assessments & Moving Groups
Throughout the sessions, coaches observe gymnasts and assess readiness by:
-
Their badge level
-
Ability level shown within their recreational group
-
Invitation into a development group (where appropriate)
If we feel a gymnast is ready to move groups, we will contact parents directly.
Why Choose Our Recreational Gymnastics Classes?
Our recreational gymnastics classes offer a fun, safe, and welcoming environment where children can develop lifelong skills—both in and out of the gym. They’re also a great place to make new friends and build confidence while staying active and healthy.
While we’d love for every child to stay with gymnastics, the skills they develop here—such as coordination, strength, balance, and body control—provide an excellent foundation for any sport they may pursue in the future.
We’re proud to deliver challenging, engaging classes for both boys and girls, starting from age 3 and up. Our sessions are carefully structured around each child’s age and ability, ensuring they are supported, motivated, and progressing at a pace that’s right for them.
As your child grows and develops within our club, they may move into a different class based on their skill level and confidence. This ensures they’re always learning, improving, and enjoying their time with us.
📈 How Progression Works
Each group follows structured progressions. Skills are broken down into smaller steps (progressions) so gymnasts can build confidence and technique before moving onto more advanced elements.
Coaches:
-
Teach through carefully planned stations
-
Gives corrections and feedback
-
Ensure skills are secure before advancing
-
Monitor strength, control, and consistency
Children move forward when they can demonstrate a skill safely, confidently, and consistently, not just once.
Please note:
We do not have any changing areas / facilities so we ask that your child arrives at their gymnastics sessions dressed and prepared. Therefore please can you ensure that your child:
-
Wears appropriate kit - this can be a gymnastics leotard or any tight-fitting leggings, shorts, t-shirts or vests. Please refrain from wearing any crop tops for gymnastics sessions.
-
Is not wearing any dresses, jeans, hoodies or zipped items and socks must all be removed prior to entering into the session.
-
Remove any jewellery including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches / fitness tracking devices.
-
Tie hair up so it is out of your face. It is advisable to wear long hair in a plait or bun so that it does not get caught whilst you’re are being supported by a coach or on a piece of apparatus.
